A parent and young person talking together
For parents & carers

You don't have to carry
the worry alone.

We recognise the fear and exhaustion that comes when your young person is struggling emotionally.

How we work

We give your young person somewhere safe to land.

We give your young person somewhere safe to land, and we give you somewhere to turn when you're out of ideas. A lot of what we do is quiet: consistency, presence, someone who shows up week after week so your teenager has one more trustworthy adult in their corner. We don't replace you. We're not trying to. We're another safe adult in the picture.

How we cater to you

Trauma-informed means we look past the behaviour, not at it.

We know the fear that comes with watching your child struggle and not knowing whether to push, back off, or panic. Our approach is trauma-informed, which means we look past the behaviour you're seeing at home to what's actually underneath it — and we can help you do the same. We keep you appropriately informed without ever making your young person feel surveilled or reported on.

What to expect

Real communication. Never surveillance.

Real communication, not silence and not overreach. If there's ever a genuine safeguarding concern, you'll know, and it will be handled properly and promptly. Outside of that, we respect your young person's need for a space that's theirs — not an extension of home, not a place their business gets relayed back to you line by line.

How we stay connected with you

A direct line, not a call centre

You're not stuck navigating a generic enquiry line. Our Safeguarding Lead is a named person you can reach directly, by phone, email, or in person, whenever something's on your mind, not just during a crisis.

Updates without the overreach

We won't relay your young person's every conversation back to you, that would break the trust that makes this work. But if there's ever a genuine safeguarding concern, you'll hear from us directly, promptly, and clearly.

Space for you too

From time to time we run parent and carer sessions, a chance to ask questions, hear from our Safeguarding Lead, and connect with other parents going through something similar. You're not meant to figure this out alone either.

An open door, not a closed file

You can get in touch any time — not just when something's gone wrong. Questions, worries, even just wanting to understand what trauma-informed care actually looks like day to day. We'd rather you ask early than wait until it's urgent.

FAQs

The questions every parent asks first.

No. Faith is part of who we are as an organisation, but it's never a condition of being here and never pressure. Your young person doesn't need to believe, say, or do anything religious to belong.

No, and that's deliberate. We don't relay your young person's conversations back to you, because that would break the trust that makes this work. But if there's ever a genuine safeguarding concern, you'll hear from us directly, promptly, and clearly.

Yes. Every staff member holds an enhanced DBS check, and there is a designated Safeguarding Lead on site at all times.

Goshen Haven supports young people aged 14 to 23, and we run a monitored parental consent process. [TO CONFIRM: the exact age from which a young person can attend without a parent or carer.]

That's okay, and very common. Nobody is pushed to talk here. Young people set their own pace, and a lot of what we do is quiet: showing up consistently so your teenager has one more trustworthy adult in their corner. You can also talk to our Safeguarding Lead yourself about how best to support them at home.

You can reach our Safeguarding Lead directly, by phone, email, or in person, whenever something's on your mind, not just during a crisis. Use the form below and we'll respond within one business day.
