WHO AM I BEYOND EXPECTATIONS AND LETTING GO OF “SHOULD BE”

We grow up surrounded by expectations like grades, achievements, likes, and the quiet pressure of “should be.” You should be smarter, stronger, more confident, more successful. But what happens when those “shoulds” drown out who you really are? Discovering identity beyond expectations means pausing to ask:

“Who am I when no one is watching?”

It’s about noticing the small sparks, what makes you curious, what feels calming, what values matter to you. These are not measured by exam scores or social approval, but by the quiet truth of your own voice.

Letting go of the “should be” mindset does not mean avoiding responsibility or abandoning personal growth. It means releasing unhealthy comparisons and unrealistic standards that create unnecessary pressure.

Instead of chasing perfection, try gentle steps: write down one thing you enjoy without needing to be good at it, spend five minutes in quiet reflection, or ask yourself, “What feels true for me today?” These practices help you shift from pressure to presence.

When you begin to see yourself beyond expectations, confidence grows, not the loud kind, but the steady kind that carries you through tough days.

You are more than results, more than the “shoulds.” You are already enough, and your voice deserves space to be heard.
